Aurora Hill Resort: A Lapland Stay That Felt Like Coming Home

Some places wrap themselves around you quietly. No fuss, no fanfare, just warmth, calm, and that deep exhale you didn’t realise you’d been holding. Aurora Hill Resort was one of those places for us. After busy travel days and big Lapland adventures, this is where we slowed right down. Where mittens dried by the door, boots lined up in a row, and evenings felt soft and safe, the way family holidays should. We had just left their sister property Postmaster Hotel, which was our second visit and honestly it was really exceptional so the Aurora Hill  Resort cabins had a lot to live up to.

Arriving Was Effortless (and So Welcome)

What a view from the bedroom

Travel days with kids can be long, no matter how magical the destination. So the ease of check-in at Aurora Hill was such a gift.  No desks. No queues. No paperwork.  Just a simple key-code system (via WhatsApp) that let us arrive, step inside, and settle immediately. And check-out was just as easy, no rushing, no stress, just one last look out at the snow before we left.  It set the tone for the whole stay: calm, uncomplicated, and thoughtfully designed for families.

Cosy Cabins Made for Real Family Life

The cabins themselves are warm, welcoming, and perfectly laid out for family stays. Not showy  just genuinely comfortable. Small but perfect kitchen, good wifi, good TV, soft lighting, snug beds, and space to stretch out after cold days outdoors. It felt like a place where children could relax and parents could finally sit down with a cup of tea and breathe. We had the family suite which has one double bedroom and a sofa bed for the kids. The location is prime for Northern Lights but we weren’t lucky during our time there.  A perfect the reason to go back again.

There is also a Kota on site if you want to light it and grill food. Kids loved this part.

The Breakfast… Honestly Exceptional

Adorable Kota for guests to use

Breakfast deserves its own moment. After crisp nights and early starts, waking up to an amazing breakfast felt like pure care. Generous, comforting, and thoughtfully prepared, it was exactly what we needed before heading out into the Arctic air. The host will ask for the best time for it to be delivered, we opted for 9am and promptly at 9 a fabulous breakfast arrived with a smile.

Stay Lapland Activities: Seamless and Memorable

One of the real joys of staying at Aurora Hill was how seamlessly everything connected with Stay Lapland activities. We had done tours with them last stay and from start to finish it was a premium experience, the kind of experiences that are exciting without being overwhelming for kids, and genuinely enjoyable for adults too. There’s something so reassuring about knowing you’re in safe, capable hands allowing you to relax and simply be present with your family. All the guides we met on our activities were so nice, friendly and helpful.

A Place That Let Us Slow Down

What made Aurora Hill Resort Cabins so special wasn’t just the location or the comfort, it was how it made us feel.

  • Unrushed

  • Rested

  • Together

Snow fun at Aurora Hill Resort

In a place as magical as Lapland, it can be tempting to pack every moment full. But Aurora Hill gently encouraged the opposite, slower mornings, quieter evenings, space to just be. And honestly? That’s where the magic really lived. Seeing the Northern Lights would have been the icing on the cake for us. We did see them dance spectacularly the night we left on social media so if you are lucky Aurora Hill Resort is prime location and even more special you can view them from the comfort of your bed!

Would We Stay Again? Without Hesitation

Aurora Hill Cabins gave us more than somewhere to sleep. It gave us a rhythm,  one that worked beautifully for family life in the Arctic. For us it was:

  • Warm cabins.
  • Effortless arrivals.
  • Wonderful food.
  • Thoughtful experiences.

The kind of place that doesn’t shout, but stays with you long after you’ve gone.  And the kind of stay I’ll always be grateful for. We will be back that’s a guarantee.  We stayed for one night, it just wasn’t enough. We all left craving a return trip which surely symbolises how much we all loved it here. We have lots more over on our Instagram.

Note: That you Aurora Hill Resort for supporting this stay. For best rates its recommended to book direct
