Transform your garden with a garden room

A garden room is not something that was on my radar until March 2020,  when work from home became a norm. I went from commuting 5 days to working full time at home, which thankfully has continued.  A garden room or garden studio was something that became a necessity for us as the realisation came that we would be working from home into the future. So what are the benefits that we have found having our own garden room. We are lucky we had the space to be able to do this as the benefits as you will see below have been huge for us as a family:

  • Separation of Work and Home Life: A garden room or garden studio provides a dedicated space for work, allowing you to physically separate your professional life from your personal life. This clear boundary can enhance focus and productivity during work hours, while also promoting relaxation and family time when you’re off the clock. For us it meant at 5 oclock i closed the door on professional me and enjoyed family life together. garden room
  • Quiet and Distraction-Free Environment: Working from home can sometimes come with various distractions, such as household chores or callers etc. A garden room offers a quiet and secluded environment where you can concentrate without interruptions, leading to increased efficiency and quality of work. Not as much of an issue as the early days when the schools were off but I really do benefit from stepping away from the washing up, laundry etc as to be honest when I am in the office there is such temptation to just do one or two things when I should be working!
  • Customisation and Personalisation: You have the freedom to design and furnish your garden room according to your specific work needs and preferences. Whether you prefer a minimalist workspace, a cosy reading nook, or a vibrant creative studio, you can tailor the space to suit your style and optimize your productivity.
  • Natural Light and Inspiration: Many garden rooms are designed with ample windows to maximize natural light, creating a bright and airy atmosphere conducive to creativity and focus. Being surrounded by nature can also inspire fresh ideas and enhance overall well-being, boosting your mood and motivation throughout the workday. I can be a bit of a day dreamer and I enjoy sipping my coffee looking out at the garden, some of my best ideas came about like this!!
  • Increased Property Value: Adding a garden room or  garden studio can enhance the value of your property, providing a desirable feature that appeals to potential buyers. It’s not only a practical investment for your current needs but also a valuable asset for the future resale value of your home. I think anything that adds extra usable space has to be a positive.
  • Versatility Beyond Work: While primarily designed for work purposes, a garden room offers versatile functionality that extends beyond the 9-to-5 routine. It can serve as a home gym, art studio, meditation space, guest room, or hobby area, allowing you to make the most of the additional square footage and enriching your lifestyle in various ways. At the weekends, I can lock away my work laptop and I let the boys take their friends over and they often play music of take in the PlayStation. This offers them a safe space to play while their little bit of independence.
