Help Your Child Find The Confidence They Need

Do you worry about your child’s low level of confidence? Low confidence can be an issue for development. In school, it can stop kids raising their hands to either answer questions or if they don’t understand. In  their personal lives, it can stop kids from pursuing opportunities that present themselves. So, let’s look at some of the ways that you can help your child feel more confident.

Teach Them It’s Okay To Fail

Pic Credit: Pexels

Part of the reason why children struggle with confidence is that they don’t take enough chances. The reason for this is that they are worried about what will happen if they fail or if they get the question wrong. As a parent, you need to show your children that it’s okay to fail. They don’t need to fear this outcome and instead they should embrace failure if it means that they are continuing to take chances. The best way to let children know that it’s okay to fail is by showing them that nothing bad will happen if they do.

Give Them Something They Can Feel Confident About

We all have our strengths and we all have our weaknesses. Children, and particularly younger children don’t always understand this. They think that they should excel at everything. They think that they should be great in every subject and win at every sport. That’s why it’s so hard for them when they don’t. This is another important lesson to impart. Let your children know that there are things they will be great at and things where they will be weaker. No one is good at everything and we all have our own strengths. When a child finds a point of strength you should embrace and nurture this. It will give them the boost that they need and empower them to continuously try new things to discover hidden talents and skills.

Give Them Confidence In Their Style

Finally, you should think about taking steps to ensure that your child feels confident in the way they look and what they are wearing. As they get older, a big part of this will be about ensuring that kids are able to choose their own clothes and outfits instead of you selecting them all for them. This can extend to school clothes in some cases. Within reason, your child might be able to choose their own outfit to wear to school. They could even design PE kits online under your guidance to ensure that they are confident in how they look when playing sports too. This can be the case of making sure it’s their favorite color or that it has an awesome style.

We hope this helps you understand some of the key steps that you can take to ensure that your child does find the confidence that they need. By taking the right steps here you can make sure that they are on course to make huge strides forward in the future whether that is in their academic or personal life. It will also get them ready for the challenges of adulthood that are just over the horizon.

The 10 Most Expensive Home Repairs

electric socket

Pic Credit: Pexels

One of the downsides of being a homeowner is that you have to pay for any property repairs out of your own pocket. While some repairs are fairly cheap, others can be incredibly expensive. Below are 10 of the most expensive home repairs that you should try to avoid as a homeowner (as well as tips on how to prevent them/lower the cost).

Repairing your home’s foundations

Foundation repairs are typically very expensive. Minor cracks may only cost a few hundred dollars to repair. However, jobs like underpinning for more serious foundation damage can cost a lot more – on average between £7,500 and £9,500.

It’s best to get any foundation problems checked out early before settling and sinking occurs – signs like cracks and doors that don’t shut/open are telltale early signs. The longer you leave damaged foundations, the higher the repair costs (plus you could be putting your household in danger by increasing the risk of it collapsing). Always hire a qualified contractor that specialises in foundation repairs.

Foundation problems often occur as a result of bad soil conditions beneath the home – investing in good guttering or french drains can stop soil from getting waterlogged. You should also avoid planting trees too close to your home as roots can interfere with foundations. A home survey when buying a property is also very important as it could help you avoid taking on a property with poor foundations.

Rewiring electrics

If your home has old or botched wiring, you may need to pay to rewire your home. This job can vary in cost depending on the size of your home. A two bed house for example usually costs between £1500 and £3000 to rewire. Five bedroom houses can meanwhile cost between £7000 and £9000.

You should always hire a qualified electrician to rewire your home. The best way to save money is often to shop around for quotes. Adding in lots of new outlets will increase the cost.

There’s not much you can do to prevent a full home rewire other than not moving into a home with old electrics. A surveyor will be able to warn you if a property has poor electrics before buying an old house.

Installing new pipes

On top of needing new wiring, some homes need new pipes. The cost depends on the scale of the job. Replumbing a bathroom typically costs between £1000 and £2000. If you’re replumbing a whole home meanwhile, you could spend anywhere between £10,000 and £20,000 depending on the size of the home.

It’s safest to hire a professional plumber rather than trying to install new piping yourself if you have no plumbing experience. It is a very specialised and trained trade and the risk of it going wrong can be serious.  That said, you may be able to save money by shopping for piping yourself – you can buy parts like 15mm copper tube online (just make sure you know exactly which parts you need). Always shop around for quotes before carrying out a big plumbing job.

You can reduce the need to replace pipes by getting any plumbing issues fixed early. Minor issues like blockages can be cleaned out while small leaks may be easily patched up without replacing the entire pipe. Low water pressure and odd smelling/oddly coloured water are early signs to look out for.

Replacing your roof

Small repairs like replacing a few tiles can often be quite cheap. However, a full roof replacement is almost always an expensive job. The overall cost depends very much on the size and style of your roof. For example, a new flat roof on a small garage may cost no more than £1000. However, a 2 valley hip roof on a detached home could cost anywhere between £6,750 and £7,250 to replace.

While you can attempt some roof repairs yourself, it’s best to hire roofing experts when carrying out a replacement. Always shop around for quotes and think carefully about the type of roofing material (asphalt shingle is a lot cheaper than a premium material like slate).

By looking after your roof, you can delay the need for a roof replacement. This could include getting your roof inspected and cleaned every few years. Check out this post for a few signs that your roof needs attention

Repairing water damage/removing mold

Water damage restoration and mold remediation can be very costly too. In severe cases, where water has damaged multiple rooms or there is serious mold growth, it could cost as much as £10,000.

You should always shop around for quotes when repairing water damage or removing mold. When it comes to minor damage, it may be possible to carry out repairs yourself.

To avoid these repairs, it’s worth taking early action against rainwater or plumbing leaks. The longer a leak is allowed to occur, the more damage it will do. Expensive water damage restoration jobs are often the result of flooding – if you live in a high-risk flood zone, make sure that your home is suitably protected against floods.

Replacing your HVAC/boiler

Heating and cooling systems can be expensive to replace. Replacing an old boiler with a new good quality boiler typically costs £1000 or more, while biomass boiler replacements can cost over £7000. Replacing an HVAC system can meanwhile cost anywhere between £3000 and £11,000.

This is a job that should always be carried out by a professional. The cost can depend very much on the type of boiler or HVAC system that you choose as a replacement.

You can delay replacing your HVAC or boiler by regularly servicing it to extend its life. HVAC systems can last for many more years if kept clean – make sure you’re servicing them annually.

Replacing siding

If your home has siding that needs replacing, expect to pay a lot of money for new cladding. The average cost to reclad a home using upvc is about £1500 to £2100.

Some people attempt to reclad their home themselves, however you may prefer to hire a professional. You can save money by shopping around for prices and by carefully considering which cladding material you use. Don’t worry if DIY is not your thing you you can always call in a professional  siding contractor here.

Avoid the need for cladding replacement by keeping your current cladding clean. If you have wooden cladding on your home, make sure that it is regularly resealed.

Replacing decking/patio

Thinking of replacing your old decking or patio? New decking could cost between £1000 and £2000, while a new patio could cost between £900 and £2500.

If you’re willing to put your DIY skills to the test, you could save money on hiring contractor by replacing decking and patio slabs yourself. You can also save money by shopping around for materials.

Decking and patio maintenance can extend the life of your patio or decking, preventing the need for a replacement. This includes annual cleaning and, in the case of decking, resealing.

Laying a new driveway

Once driveways become severely damaged, it’s often best to replace them entirely. This can cost anywhere between £2000 and £10,000 depending on the size and surface material of the driveway

It’s possible to save money by laying a driveway yourself so long as you know what you’re doing. You should also consider the driveway surface material – gravel and tarmac are much cheaper than block paving and concrete.

Look after your driveway to reduce the need for a future replacement. This includes cleaning it and getting rid of weeds.

Repairing a septic tank

Septic tanks aren’t too common. However, if your home does have one of these, you should financially prepare yourself for any replacement – cost of septic tank installation can be anywhere between £2500 and £5000.

You should hire a professional to install a septic tanks. Save money by shopping around for quotes and by considering the septic tank model.

Septic tanks should be regulalry inspected. This can allow you to spot problems early and get repairs done, preventing the need for a full replacement.

Buying Your First Home: Quick Tips to Protect Your Investment

Buying a new home is very exciting, especially if it’s your first one. The process is often stressful, but finally moving into your new home makes it all worth it. When you first move in, you’re probably too preoccupied with getting settled to think about some of the practical aspects of owning a home. But when you’re ready to start getting stuck into homeownership, there are some steps you will probably want to take in order to protect your new home. The sooner you can do these things, the quicker you can start to enjoy being a homeowner without worrying too much.

Make Repairs

You’re pretty lucky if you move into a new home and there are zero repairs for you to make. They might only be minor repairs, but you should still take care of them as soon as you can. So now might be the right time to look for the best plumber to take care of any leaks or to hire someone to reseal around your window frames. Fixing these small things now can help to prevent larger problems in the future. Repairing plumbing problems, for example, can prevent water damage, which could cost a lot more to fix.

Get Good Insurance

Home insurance is vital if you want to protect your investment. In fact, many mortgage lenders will expect you to have a policy in place before you move in. Make sure you take out insurance not just for the building but also for everything in it. Of course, there’s a difference between having any home insurance policy and having a good one. It’s worth spending some time comparing your options and looking for a policy that works for you. Don’t just base your choice on price. You should understand the terms and conditions and how and when the policy will cover you.

Change the Locks

Changing the locks when you move into a new home isn’t compulsory. Hopefully, the previous owners have given you all the keys. However, it can definitely give you peace of mind if you change the locks. You’ll know for certain that no one else has keys to your home, except for your family and whoever else you might choose to give one to. It doesn’t have to be too expensive and it will make your home more secure. It also gives you the chance to upgrade the locks to something more modern or even revamp your doors.

Create a Maintenance Schedule

There’s a lot that can go into caring for a home. The best way to take care of a property is to carry out maintenance so that you can help to prevent any bigger problems from occurring. And because there are multiple tasks that you might have to complete throughout the year (or sometimes less often), a written maintenance schedule can help you. You could also use a calendar to schedule certain things so you get reminders when you need them.

When you buy your first home, take steps to protect your investment so that you can help it keep its value, as well as make sure it remains a nice place to live.

How To Freshen Up Your Home For Springtime

Spring has arrived, and there is no greater feeling than lighter nights and warmer days. It’s wonderful to wake up in the morning knowing that the sun will be shining and that the daylight will stay much longer.

The only problem is, when the good weather comes, we can see problem areas in our homes much more easily. However, there are some simple fixes to ensure our homes are as fresh as the weather itself. Read on to find out more.

Move House

Moving house might seem like an extreme reaction to springtime coming around and wanting a fresher place to live, but if it’s something you’ve been thinking about for a while now, spring is a good time to start getting serious.

There are usually more properties on the market during this time of the year, often because, after being shut inside all winter, people are ready for something new. This means that, although you’ll have competition, you’ll also have a lot of choice when you start looking for somewhere to live. If you really want something fresh and new, a new home from Bellriver Homes will fit the bill nicely.

 Embrace The Natural Light

Allowing as much natural light as possible to enter the house is crucial. This will make you feel good, and it will brighten up the space, and since there is so much natural light at this time of year, it’s wise to use it as much as you can.

Of course, there can be obstacles. However, you can increase the amount of sunshine entering the yard and house by installing bigger windows, removing window coverings, or cutting back any tall plants that might be in the way.

Also, make sure you clean your windows regularly. When we take on the task of cleaning our homes, we often overlook the windows, yet it’s likely there are smudges and marks on every pane. Why leave them there when you can just throw on some gloves, grab some clothes, and wipe the windows clean? And, because it’s spring, it doesn’t hurt to open them up and allow some fresh air and warm sunlight in.

 Add Greenery

Plants can add life and colour to a room, making it seem more like a home. Certain varieties improve air quality and provide a mild, natural scent that rivals any synthetic air freshener and will unquestionably make your house look and feel fresh.

Being outside in nature has been shown to alleviate stress and refresh your body and mind. Although it is not the same as wandering through a forest, introducing plants into your house may help you feel better at the end of the day. The ability of plants to filter the air also benefits your general health, allowing you to cope with stress more effectively.

Add Small Details

If you haven’t changed the small details in your home for a while, now is the time to do it. You could add Luminati acrylic photo frames with up-to-date family pictures, a new feature wall in your living room, or a new rug under your dining table. These small details can freshen up your living space and make it feel more homely. You could even bring in some spring flowers and bring the outside in

 Rethink Your Layout

You can dramatically change the flow of a space with a pen, paper, and a little muscle. Plan an entirely new layout using your current furniture. This could mean placing your couch near a window or bringing furniture closer together and away from the walls. Don’t be afraid to bring in accent furnishings from other rooms or exchange artwork from one room to the next. You’ll be amazed at how fresh everything feels, and it won’t even cost you anything to do.

5 Ways Your Telemarketing Campaign Is Going Wrong

earphones

Telemarketing campaigns are utilised by companies all over the world. If they are used properly then they can bring optimum success to businesses. However, there are easy ways to get your telemarketing campaigns wrong. This is because there are a few common pitfalls that many businesses are still falling into the trap of. Read on to discover the common pitfalls to avoid in a telemarketing campaign.

  • Calling at inconvenient times – A lot of people complain that they receive cold calls at extremely awkward or inappropriate times of the day. Those who are called late in the evening get annoyed because you are interrupting their time to relax. However, if you call during the day then there is always the chance you are going to catch the individual whilst they are busy. Most experts recommended calling in the morning before the stresses and strains of the day have had their chance to impact the individual in question.
  • Poor quality lists – Most companies suffer at the hand of poor quality lists. This relates to out of date contact information and alike. This can lead to you being extremely inefficient and so a lot of time is wasted. You need to make sure all the information is up to date and any irrelevant data is removed.
  • Failing to follow up – This is a huge mistake. It will take more than a mere phone call in order to clinch a deal. Furthermore, it is always recommended to record your calls and keep all of the information from each one stored onto your database. You can use this to your advantage. Next time you have to ring the business you can read up on them first in order to pick up right from the place you left off. The professional will be impressed and this ensures you do not waste any time repeating what has already been done.
  • Diving right in – There is nothing worse than trying to force a good on someone, whether it is a push button switch, telephone system, or anything else. No matter how brilliant your product or service may be, individuals hate to feel as if they are being pressurized into buying something. In fact, most telemarketing experts will advise you to avoid trying to sell on the very first call. It is all about building a long term relationship.
  • Lack of preparation – If you have not done your preparation before your call then it will show. Make sure you prepare thoroughly beforehand. If you jot down some keywords it will help you to keep everything on the right path. It is important to be natural and let the conversation flow but you have to be confident and knowledgeable too.

The five points mentioned are the main mistakes being made by companies all over the world in relation to their telemarketing campaigns. If you can avoid these five pitfalls then you can give yourself a great chance of ensuring your telemarketing strategy is a successful one.

How To Prepare Your Vehicle For A Road Trip

Having prepared your itinerary and packed your bags for a road trip, you may want to check the preparedness of your car for the long journey ahead. The most detailed vacation plan won’t save you when you ignore routine maintenance checks. With recent statistics supporting a road trip resurgence, here are some pointers to prepare your car for your epic adventure if you intend to take a road trip this year.

Tire maintenance

person fixing tyre

Pic Credit: Pixabay

The tires remain the only part of your vehicle that makes direct contact with the road. For this reason, you want to prioritise your tire condition by making sure it’s properly inflated. You should ensure it is free of any visible defects and is the right size and type as indicated by the manufacturer. You can also consider air pressure, tire condition, and rotation. It can be useful to have a spare tire in your trunk and probably learn how to change it with the necessary tools such as a jack, cranking mechanism, and tire wrench tools.

Check your fluids

Maintaining your vehicle’s fluid is essential for a smooth road trip. While motor oil is your engine’s lifeblood, the latest automobiles rely on specialised fluids for operation and durability. This may include transmission fluids, brake fluid, coolant, engine oil, and so on. If possible, top them off before hitting the road. Additionally, you can visit this website if you need auxiliary tanks or an efficient fueling system to improve your fuel efficiency and consumption while reducing your visible emissions.

Get a road survival kit

A spare phone, a rechargeable power pack, and some emergency supplies like a flashlight, screwdrivers, pliers, and an adjustable spanner can come in handy when travelling on the road. Additionally, if you want to prepare for your worst-case scenario, carry along some flares, medical kits, a reflective triangle warning, and a fire extinguisher. Some of these items are must-haves in some regions to avoid any trouble with the law on the road. The truth is, your automobile never breaks down at a convenient moment. And when it does, though, a fully stocked roadside emergency auto kit can help relieve some of the tension.

Wash your car

person washing car

Pic Credit: Pixabay

It is easy to downplay the need to wash your vehicle before embarking on a road trip. Yet, washing your windows, in particular, can ensure you have the best visibility possible. Is your wiper blade leaving stains on your windscreen or getting worn down? Now should be a good time to replace them before heading out. Your vehicle will likely accumulate dirt and sand during the trip, so you want to schedule a wash to remove any existing grime or dirt to properly prepare the vehicle and give it the attention it deserves.

While it is essential to ensure routine vehicle care practices, it is especially crucial before taking a long trip, especially when travelling to an unfamiliar location. These tips should prepare your car to get there and back safely.

Is it safe to breastfeed when you have silicone breast implants

breast feeding mother

Pic Credit: Pixabay

With cosmetic surgery procedures becoming more popular, and more easily attainable for the average woman, the question about breastfeeding has emerged. Breast augmentation procedures are particularly popular amongst new mum’s. It’s a great way to turn back the clock and regain that pre-pregnancy size and fullness.  But what about those women who have already had breast implants, and now face the choice between breast and bottle?  It’s natural that these women might anticipate some complications or difficulties due to the surgery.  But what is the truth when it comes to breast feeding with silicone implants

Breast feeding alone can be a contentious issue amongst mum’s. Deciding what suits your lifestyle and what is best for you and your baby are choices that only you can make.  Mum shaming and internet trolling aside, you will get advice and tips that you never asked for, and are of little use.  Everyone, it seems, is an expert and they all want to give you their opinion, regardless of whether you want to hear it or not. Add breast implants to the mix and you could well send some of these ‘experts’ into a seismic spin. Keep in mind that the decision is yours to make.  Choosing to breastfeed is just that – a choice. Only you should decide what is best for you.  You are the expert in this case, and you know what suits your lifestyle better than anyone else.

The Ultimate Hen Do Checklist for an Unforgettable Adventure

Bidding goodbye to your status of being single needs to be celebrated in the best way possible – with an incredible hen party for the bride-to-be.

hen do party

For every maid of honour, the responsibility of planning a hen do falls on her shoulders. So if you’ve been presented with the opportunity, it means you need to get all the plans finalised, the places booked and food sorted to make sure the bride-to- be has a memorable day with the people she loves.

Whether you’re thinking of a hen do in Leicester or wherever you reside, we’ve put together a fantastic checklist to help you host an unforgettable adventure with the best hen party for the bride.

To make your hen do enjoyable and hassle-free, incorporate these tips in your planning to put together the perfect adventure.

Let’s take a look!

  1. Understand the Kind of Adventure the Bride-to-Be Wants

Perhaps the most important step in planning a hen do is to speak to the bride to understand what she’s looking forward to. By asking her the right questions and having a chat with her, you can understand what the bride may like and hate which can help you find ways to surprise her.

From setting a theme, finding the right activities for your hen do ideas to getting the alcohol she wants, you can proceed with the arrangements and start putting the plan into action.

Additionally, since the hen do is for the bride, make sure to keep a few surprise elements that she may enjoy in your plan to ensure you go all out to make the day perfect.

  1. Plan the Guest List

After speaking to the bride, you’ll get an idea about whom to invite or include in the hen party planning. Since the bride may have a few people she wants to invite that may not have crossed your mind, speaking to her will help you prepare a rough list of the guests you need to invite.

Organise this along with all the other details onto an excel sheet. Add the contact details of the guests so it’s easy for you to find whatever you need, quickly.

Once this is done, speak to all of them together to finalise a date that everyone is free at.

  1. Set a Budget

What’s party planning without the logistics? Chaotic!

To plan the perfect hen do for your best friend, setting a budget is essential so that you don’t get carried away as much as you would want to.

In an ideal world, we all would love to go all out with the hen do and give our friends the best experiences that are available. However, due to budgetary constraints, it’s ideal to stay practical and organise a hen party that the bride will nevertheless enjoy.

Speak to the other hens and finalise a budget that works well for everyone. Whether you decide to do it all by yourself or ask the other hens to pitch in, you can have a clear idea of what you need to do after you speak to them.

Note down everything important and keep all the hens updated accordingly to avoid any financial mishaps from happening.

  1. Decide On the Activities and Make the Bookings

After the budget is set, you can find activities, restaurants or pubs that you wish to include in your hen do and go ahead and make all the reservations well in advance. It is important to do your research well in advance, especially if you are travelling to a destination that you are not as familiar with. If you use your preferred search engine and use the name of the location you wish to go to, such as “Asheville bachelorette party” or whatever destination you have chosen, this should yield sufficient results to begin your research.

If you’ve included the popular destinations in your list, there’s a chance that you may not get a reservation later, so take advantage of the time you have and make all the bookings beforehand.

The biggest way to do this efficiently is to make a proper itinerary that includes all the different elements that you have planned so that everyone has a proper understanding of what the day is going to be like. You can, of course, leave the bride out of this and surprise her with the activities. However, this intense organization can become stressful for the chief planner, especially when trying to secure exclusive venues and coordinate logistics for large groups. Using a specialized service, such as Kilkenny Concierge, or similar options, can reduce the pressure by having local experts manage all reservations and ensure the itinerary flows smoothly.

  1. Make the Most of the Day

Now that most of the things are taken care of, the next thing on the list is to make sure that you enjoy everything that you’ve planned along with the bride to be.

As the person in charge of the hen do, it may get difficult as you need to make sure everything is organised and going smoothly. However, this does not mean that you need to miss out on the fun and get stuck with organising everything.

Since it’s one of the important events for the bride, make sure to enjoy everything you’ve planned by staying next to the bride for it all.

To Sum Up…

Planning a hen do takes some time and effort however with a few basic tips through our hen do checklist, you can get a better understanding of what needs to be taken care of.

No matter what activities you choose, the bride is sure to appreciate all the effort and planning, making it a day she’ll never forget.
